How to Create the Best Gaming Room

From video games to board games to card games to tabletop RPG games, there's an endless amount of fun to be had when it comes to gaming. It's all about finding what you enjoy! If you're like me, then you may find yourself wanting a space where you and your loved ones can play these games without having to drag them out of a storage area.

Okay, so you may still have to drag them out, but a game room will save you the extra hassle! You'll be able to have open storage space (if that's what you choose) that shows off those carefully curated games. Plus, having that dedicated space will create a more relaxed environment that you can come to after work to enjoy yourself. Not to mention it'll be a hit with your friends!

But how do you create the best gaming room possible in your home? Keep reading, because I have the tips and tricks for you to create the best gaming room!

Make It Versatile
Why limit the game room to only games? The space can also be used for movies and music. Make it a place to learn that guitar you've had for years. Set up a dedicated movie shelf with all your favorite films and film memorabilia. Add some ping-pong and pool tables to really elevate the space. Show off your Dungeons & Dragons miniatures that you spent hours painting by hand. There's really no end to what you can add to your game to make it yours. You don't have to restrict yourself to just one type of game!

Go All Out with a Theme
If you like a specific game, don't be afraid to make it the primary theme of your game room! Style your storage and decorations around that theme. If you have an extra creative streak, paint the walls yourself with scenes from the game to really make the atmosphere come together. It's also likely that you could find wall decals to stick onto the wall for a quicker and easier way to decorate. You could also mix and match with different games for the theme, finding a way to tie them together through colors or game themes.

Add Cool Lighting
There are all sorts of really neat LED lights now to use. Many of them can be set to any color imaginable all with a simple push of a button. Many are also app compatible, so you can change up the lights as much as you want to. Don't be afraid to break the mold and use interesting shapes so that the lights are also an additional decoration. Spreading them out through the room will add interesting geometry and break up the smoothness of the walls.

Use Game Equipment as Decor
If you have a ping-pong table or pool table, you can hang up the equipment on the wall both as a methods of storage and for decoration. Ping-pong paddles can be hung up in different shapes to show off your love of the game while also being easy to put up and take down for use. This isn't just limited to those games, though! You can hang up board games as well. Showcasing the board game covers makes it easy to use as decorations. It also adds pops of color and always means you know what games you have available.

Don't Shy from Color
Monochromatic color schemes may be easier, but color is so much more fun. Bright colors (maybe even colors from your favorite games) are striking and draw the eye to wherever you want. It also makes the energy in the room more fun. If you have kids, have them help you decide what colors to use. Whoever you'll be sharing the room with the most, make it a group fun time to decorate the space.

Use Multi-Purpose Furniture
There are pool tables that have a cover for the top so that you can use it as a regular table! Have dinner or play your board games and card games before taking off the cover and playing a game of pool. The multi-purpose of it saves space and makes the room even more functional.

Get Creative with Storage
Built-in storage is a great option, but if you can't, then you can get creative with how you set up your storage shelves. Having the storage not have a back on them means you can better manage your cables for game systems. You could also add lights to the back of the shelves to light up the wall behind them for extra ambience.

Invest in Chairs
Likely you'll be sitting down a lot to play games. Card games, board games, and video games normally don't require standing up and moving around. That makes it important to have quality sitting areas! The comfier the furniture, the better. Big bean bag chairs, fluffy couches, and quality gaming chairs are essential to being comfortable and enjoying the hours you'll spend in the game room.

Don't Forget the Speakers
Whether for your games, movies, or music, good quality speakers are essential. Having a surround sound system ensures that you'll be tuned into everything.
